CLITHEROE Grammar School student Rhiannon Wickham was the leading female and junior at the Andrew Steele Olympic Bid race in Littleborough on Sunday.

The Blackburn Harrier U15 athlete was seventh overall in the five-mile event, which was won by Salford’s Simon Bruton.

It was a family affair for Wickham, with her father Paul, in Accring-ton Road Runners colours, coming home 10th, and mother Yvonne, representing Clayton, in 28th overall.

Wickham, from Sabden, is in her first season with Harriers and already been selected in the Lancashire team for the Inter-Counties and English Schools Cross Country Championships.

Rossendale’s Steve Clawson came second in the Andrew Steele Race and was vet 40 prize winner.

Clayton’s Alan Life was the vet 50 winner and fourth overall, while Mark Anderton of Todmorden Harriers came home in fifth place.
