Blackburn Harrier pole vault star Bleasdale comes second to Isinbayeva

BLACKBURN Harriers pole vault star Holly Bleasdale went head to head against Yelena Isinbayeva for the first time this year – but just missed out on toppling the Russian legend.

Both Bleasdale and current Olympic champion Isinbayeva cleared 4.68m at the Pedro’s Cup in Bydgoszcz, Poland, which proved their best efforts, but the East European took the honours after clearing the jump on her second attempt, while Bleasdale succeeded on her third.

However, the Chorley ace still came second overall.
