THE Great North Western half marathon is on Sunday at 11am. Race HQ is the Hilton Hotel North Promenade with the start on the Promenade. The route is two laps of a traffic free circuit between the North Pier and Little Bispham.

THE Ilkley Moor fell race is on Sunday at 11.30am from Wells Road in Ilkley. Race distance is five miles with 1,260 feet of climb, making it an ‘A’ category race.

ENTRIES have closed for the Noonstone fell race on February 27. Organised by Todmorden Harriers, the race is the first round of the English Fell Championships, and is the only time the series visits our region this season. The race starts from the Top Brink Inn at Lumbutts and covers a distance of nine miles with 2,300 feet of climb. CLAYTON-le-Moors Harriers are holding their annual presentation of awards for 2009 on Saturday, February 27, at Mytton Fold Hotel, Whalley from 7.30pm.

Pete and Anne Bland are the guests of honour and a hot buffet supper and disco are included in the price of £14.
