Ted and Jennifer show their class

Ted Orrell and Jennifer Adams were class winners at the Longridge Seven Mile Road Race, one of the harder races on the calendar because of the long climb up Jeffrey Hill.

Clayton’s Orrell had almost a minute in hand over John Swift of Chorley AC in the over 70s but Adams from Accrington Road Runners was pushed much harder in the F55s before prevailing by five seconds over Joan Gouldthorpe of Red Rose Road Runners.

Around 270 took part with Gethin Butler of Preston Harriers and Astley and Tyldsley’s Mary-Anne Tracey-Aguera winning in respective times of 38:54 and 47:23.

Blackburn Harriers John Sutton and Brian Fogarty both finished in the top 20 and the Red Rose club had four in the first 35 – Tom Bradshaw, John Shepherd, Joe Swarbrick and Fred Lynch.

Lee Cook has won Saturday’s Great Langdale Christmas Pudding 10K Road Race as Triclan (Triathlon Club Lancashire) won the team award.

There were personal bests for Cook (33:05), fourth placed Rodger Wilkins (33:32) and Joe Massey in eighth (35:58) as the Blackburn club continues to make its mark.

The race is so popular with over 900 enrolling this year that it is split into two with a second event on Sunday.

This one saw Evan Cook of Blackburn Harriers win the over 55 prize with eighth in 37:21.
