AMY Davies brought the curtain down on a memorable Red Rose Cross Country League campaign by winning the final race in Rossendale on Saturday.

The Blackburn Harriers starlet saw off strong competition from three Bury AC members to take top spot in the under-11s girls event in seven minutes and 33 seconds.

Amy finished overall second in the final standings after previous second, third and fourth-placed finishes.

Eleesha Charnley followed Amy home on Saturday in 10th (8mins 12secs).

Amy Dowsing was 18th (8mins 57secs) and Alayna Irvine 33rd (9mins 44secs) as Harriers’ U11s girls team finished second on the day behind Bury AC.

Jamie and Rory Teare rounded the U11s boys course in ninth (7mins 30secs) and 31st (8mins 24secs) respectively.

Jamie came overall seventh in the final standings and brother Rory overall 35th.

Grace Handley and Megan Clarkson made it a Harriers one-two in the U15s girls event.

Hanley raced to victory in 16mins 19secs with Megan second in 17mins 38secs.

Their performance, along with Rose Abbott’s 16th-placed finish in 22mins 13secs, ensured Harriers’ U15s girls team came second on the day and in the final standings behind Rossendale Harriers.

Liz Greenwood did not compete as she had already took the individual U15s girls title after winning the first three events.

Natalya Irvine was a strong fourth in the U13s girls event in 10mins 39secs behind winner Eve Hutchinson of Hyndburn AC in 10mins 4secs.

There was a great run by Helen Leigh in the senior women’s event as she claimed second spot in 21mins 6secs.

The club’s men’s team finished third on the day.

First home among the Harriers was Stephen Chew in ninth.
