EAST Lancashire runners celebrated Red Rose Cross Country League prizes after the final race of the series at Rossendale on Saturday.

Hyndburn AC finished third in the final under-11s boys team standings with their ace Robert Holt third in the individual standings.

Kai Atkins, of Pendle AC, was joint first in the U13s boys standings and Rossendale Harriers’ Ella Tinman second in the U13s girls standings.

The Rossendale U13s girls team came top of the table and the club’s U11s girls team second in theirs.

Pendle enjoyed a one-two in the U15s boys individual standings with Matthew Barnes first and Thomas Marchant second.

Those performances helped Pendle’s U15s boys finish top of the team competition.

Charlotte Waddington was second in the U15s girls standings and part of the Rossendale team that came out on top.

Matthew Harris and Callum Davidson finished second and third respectively in the U17s men’s standings as Rossendale finished in pole position in the team competition.

Rebecca Flanagan was crowned the U17s women’s winner and was a member of the Rossendale team that came second.

Darwen Dashers’ Joanne Nelson had double reason to cheer. She was second overall in the ladies standings and first in the ladies veteran standings.

Trawden AC finished third in the ladies team standings and top of the ladies veteran team standings ahead of second-placed Darwen.

Rossendale were second in the men’s team standings while Darwen were third in the men’s veteran team standings.

Nick Schofield, of Rossendale, was confirmed as the men’s veteran winner.

On the day Hyndburn’s George Owen won the U11s boys race in six minutes and 56 seconds.

Pendle’s Atkins was the winner of U13s boys race in 9mins 6secs while Hyndburn’s Eve Hutchinson was the first U13s girl home in 10mins 4secs. Briony Holt, of Clayton-le-Moors Harriers, followed up in third in 10mins 25secs.

Pendle’s Barnes won the U15s boys race in 14mins 35secs with clubmate Marchant third in 15mins 19secs.

Pendle’s Matthew Dutton (19mins 10secs) and Rossendale’s Davidson (19mins 18secs) were second and third respectively in the U17s men’s race.

Rossendale’s Flanagan was the U17s women’s winner in 22mins 27secs with clubmate Anna Tyson third in 25mins 13secs.

Rossendale’s Joseph Johnston was third home in the men’s race in 28mins 32secs.
