BLACKBURN Harriers under 15s enjoyed a clean sweep of the places at the final Red Rose Cross Country League meeting of the season, at Bolton on Saturday.

Just 24 hours before winning the Hurst Green Turkey Trot, Elizabeth Greenwood led home a field of 26 to win the under 15 race.

Her Blackburn team-mates Grace Handley and Demi Impett finished second and third respectively to give Harriers the team victory, ahead of second placed Rossendale Harriers.

Rossendale’s team was made up of Sophie Murphy, Luce Moore and Eleanor Solomon.

Blackburn Harriers celebrated another winner with Natalya Irvine claiming victory in the under 13 race. She finished just ahead of Rossendale Harriers’ Sarah Longshaw and Corinna Howorth, who came second and third respectively to win the team event, with Shauna Williamson.

Rossendale’s Matthew Mackay finished third in the under 11 boys race, while Hydnburn’s trio of Owen George, Sam Fox and Jack Hutchison finished second in the team event.

Rossendale’s under 11 girls also finish second, with Orla Holt, Maisy Vasic and Claudia Newby making up their team.

Hyndburn’s Josh Boyle was second in the under 13 category, a place ahead of Rossendale’s Joshua Whitbread. Whitbread was helped by Ethan Radcliffe and Elliot Snape to win the team event though, just ahead of Pendle Athletic Club.

Pendle’s Matthew Barnes won the under 15 race, just ahead of team-mate James Marchant as they raced to a team triumph, helped by Tiarnan Crorken.

Rossendale Harriers’ trio of Matthew Harris, Callum Davidson and Robert Savage won the under 17 team race.

Sarah Glyde, Melanie Blackhurst and Gemma Kendal took Todmorden to second in the ladies team race.

Glyde and Blackhurst also helped Todmorden to win the vets race, with team-mate Sarah Warburton.

Rossendale’s Rebecca Flanagan was second in the under 17 race.

Rossendale Harriers finished second in the men’s senior team event, with Todmorden Harriers in third.

Todmorden’s Jonathan Wright finished second in the men’s vets race, helping his club to win the team race.

Rossendale’s Joe Johnston won the under 20 race, with team-mate Dominic Walton in third .

For Clayton juniors Briony Holt finished sixth in the under 11, Alice Pier was ninth in the under 13s and Curtis Holt 13th in the under 13 boys.
