Leam Richardson scored his first Stanley goal as the Reds led Brentford 1-0.
It was nothing more than John Coleman's men deserved.
Andy Mangan and Paul Mullin both went close with shots that were saved well by keeper Ben Hamer.
But Hamer could do nothing with Richardson's cross on 31 minutes, which moved in the swirling wind and flew in off the far post.
