BURNLEY’S new wing wizard Georges-Kevin Nkoudou is hoping a spell at Turf Moor can reignite his enjoyment of the gameby seeing him out on the pitch on a regular basis.

The 22-year-old Frenchman, who revealed he models himself on Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard, has made just three starts for Tottenham in 18 months and none in the Premier League.

His cameo off the bench for the Clarets at Crystal Palace last weekend was only his 10th appearance in the top flight but, having made the move to Burnley for the rest of the season, he is keen to win a place in the side.

Nkoudou was one of European football’s hottest talents during his year at Marseille, but his development has been halted somewhat since moving to England.

“I want to enjoy my football and find the situation that I’ve lost. I haven’t played a lot at Tottenham so it’s been difficult because I was playing at Marseille,” he said.

“It’s different but I want to play. If the manager here sees that I’m good in training and that I can help the team on the pitch then why not?

“I’ve come to Burnley to play but I need to win my place in training. I hope to train good and then if I can help the team then I’ll play. If the manager puts me on the pitch then I’ll help the team and do everything for them.”

Nkoudou is primarily a winger and he came on on the left of midfield for Burnley at Selhurst Park.

His half-hour display in south London gave Clarets fan a glimpse into his talents and he is a keen admirer of Chelsea’s Hazard, who can play from the left cutting in on to his right foot or through the middle.

“I like to watch Eden Hazard,” Nkoudou revealed. “He’s one of the best in the world in that position. I like him very much. I hope I can be as successful.”

Nkoudou will hope to get further game time for the Clarets this weekend as Burnley welcome Manchester United to Turf Moor.

He has been impressed with what he has seen of his new team against the Premier League’s top six and believes Sean Dyche’s side have what it takes to secure a top half finish.

“It’s a big game and everybody will want to play in it. Manchester United is a big team in England. Both teams will be wanting to win so it should be a good game,” he added.

“Of course they can (finish in the top half) if they stay focussed. Everyone is working in the same way which is key and will help them stay in the top half of the table. They need to keep going, win games, and then they can do it.

“Burnley play good football. They’re seventh in the division, just after the big six, so they’re doing well in a good league.

“They’ve started good and I’ve watched them against big clubs with wins against Chelsea and they were unlucky against Liverpool at home. They’re a very good team. I’m just finding out how the team works so I can go forward and help them win games.”
