SHAY McCartan celebrated his first Accrington Stanley goal as the Reds grabbed a late equaliser at promotion-chasing YorkCity to move four points clear of the League Two drop zone.

The substitute headed home a corner from Lee Molyneux in stoppage time to secure a point at Bootham Crescent.

That was the first goal the Minstermen had conceded in some eight matches as they made a surge towards the play-off places.

The goal was justice for Stanley after they were harshly penalised for York's opener, which came from a penalty awarded after Kayode Odejayo was adjudged to have handled.

The Reds were not happy with that decision - but York's Michael Coulson converted none the less.

Calvin Andrew should have doubled the York lead but he failed to make a decent contact with the goal at his mercy and McCartan was the late hero.
