SHEFFIELD Wednesday manager Stuart Gray admits new dad Leon Best will be a big miss in tomorrow’s Championship clash with his parent club Blackburn Rovers.

Best, whose fiancée gave birth to twins this week, will be ineligible to play in the Hillsborough encounter after signing on loan from Wednesday from Rovers in February.

The striker has scored four goals in 13 games for the Owls and Gray said: “Like anybody you get on loan, when he came in he was not match fit.

“I think we’re probably seeing the best of Leon now that he is match fit.

“He’s come in and helped us. He’s passed on his knowledge, he’s good in the dressing room and he’s a talker on the pitch.”

Wednesday are unlikely to move for Best permanently in the summer given the frontman still has has two years left on his £32,000 a week Ewood contract.

The 27-year-old had helped the Owls to four straight home wins – scoring in three of them – before they lost 4-1 to Watford last time out.

Gray added: “To concede four goals at home was disappointing. It wasn’t good enough and we want to put that right.

“Blackburn at home doesn’t put any fear into us, it’s a good game for us and we’ll be at it.”
