CHESTERFIELD boss Paul Cook has warned his side to be wary of the ex-factor when they travel to Accrington Stanley tomorrow.

The former Stanley manager returns to his old club for the second time, having endured a miserable visit to the Store First Stadium last season when Accrington claimed a 1-0 win.

Tomorrow’s fixture will also see Leam Richardson return to Stanley for the first time since he quit as manager in the summer to become Cook’s assistant at Chesterfield.

In addition, the Spireites are expected to have former Reds Jimmy Ryan and Gary Roberts in their line-up.

“Obviously with myself, Leam and some of the players going back it will always be a good game on their calendar because they’ll want to beat us,” Cook said.

“But it just spices the game up and that’s good.

“I’ve been lucky enough to see Accrington a couple of times lately. I saw them against Scunthorpe and I saw them at Burton on Saturday.

“They’ve got a lot of good players, they’re a very powerful team. They’ve had some smashing results on the road.”

Cook hopes Stanley will not end up in danger of relegation, having slipped to third bottom.

“There are good people at that football club, they’re a really good club and I certainly hope that they don’t get drawn into the relegation battle,” he said.

“I wish James and his staff every success because it is a difficult club to manage when you’re in with clubs like ourselves.

“We’re patently and obviously a bigger club but that will mean nothing on Saturday, we’re going there to win a football match.

“This club haven’t got a great record at Accrington in previous seasons so we go there fully focused.”
