Rovers striker David Gooodwillie hopes move will kick start career

Lancashire Telegraph: David Goodwillie David Goodwillie

BLACKBURN Rovers striker David Goodwillie hopes his loan move to Championship rivals Blackpool will get his career back on track.

Goodwillie, who will spend the rest of the season with the struggling Seasiders, has made just 10 starts for Rovers since making a £2m move from Dundee United in August 2011.

But the Scotland international, who spent the first six months of this season back on loan at United, is confident of playing more at Bloomfield Road.

He has made two substitutes appearances for Blackpool so far but he hopes his performance off the bench in Saturday’s 1-1 home draw with Nottingham Forest will convince stand-in Seasiders boss – and former Rovers midfielder – Barry Ferguson to throw him into the starting line-up for this weekend’s trip to Ipswich Town.

Goodwillie said: “I see it as a breath of fresh air to get new team mates and show what I can do.

“All the lads have been great because I’ve settled in brilliantly so hopefully I can get my career back on track.

“It felt great to get a run out. I’ve been eager to get on and Fergie knows that so I’m glad he got me on when he did.

“I feel as sharp and as fit as I’ve ever been but it’s up to the manager, “I just have to wait for my chance and bide my time. He sees training and he picks his team from there so hopefully he will see me training hard and will put me in.”

Blackpool are 10 points above the dropzone but Goodwillie said: “We have too many good players (to go down) so we’ll just take each game as it comes and hopefully we can get more points.”

Another master-stroke signing. Is it any wonder you clowns are on the brink of financial meltdown.

What a shambles.

Says the man who calls himself "2014 and a stadium with wood seats?"

And what is this obsession you have with abuse? Every other post you bring it up. If you need to get something off your chest there are people out there who you can talk to. Whatever goes on in that vile excuse for an imagination of yours please keep it to yourself, this is a football article, there's no need to lower the tone.

And I'm only saying what you're thinking.
