ON a day when many other games were postponed, credit must be due to Clitheroe for ensuring their derby with Ramsbottom United game went ahead, despite the horrendous conditions.

The visitors had to twice come from behind before their work ethic finally clinched another three points as their surge into the play-offs continued.

Matthew McNamara put Clitheroe ahead on 13 minutes only for Chris Denham to level within 60 seconds as the match got off to a bright start.

It stayed 1-1 at the break but once again Clitheroe started the second-half better and Paul Coote made it 2-1 three minutes after the re-start.

However, the Rams hit back through Denham’s second goal on 53 minutes before Billy Priestley and Grant Spencer’s penalty handed the visitors all three points in the final eight minutes of the match.
