Colne’s battle all in vain

A GOOD second half performance by Colne failed to bring them any reward as they slipped to 3-0 defeat at second placed Maine Road.

Matthew Beadle gave the hosts a 21st minute lead, which was doubled five minute later when Paul Connor finished an end-to-end move.

Colne fought back in the second half but a last minute effort from Thomas Bentham sealed victory.

Barnoldswick Town slipped toa 3-1 defeat at Runcorn Linnets were hat-trick hero Anthony Hickey did the damage.

Hickey scored in the 10th, 26th and 48th minutes when Liam Blades scoring for Town just before the break.

Bacup and Rossendale Borough weren’t in action while in Division One, AFC Darwen’s home clash with Daisy Hill was postponed due to a water-logged pitch while leaders Nelson were left kicking their heels as their match at Ashton Town also fell foul to the weather.
