WITH 90 minutes on the clock on Saturday, Christmas was cancelled in the Lowe house.

We were 2-1 down at Mansfield, who had not won for ages, and we were sitting second bottom in the league.

Then it all changed and it was thanks to what will go down in history as the ‘Miracle of Field Mill.’ Three minutes into injury time Kal Naismith scored his second of the game to equalise and send the travelling Stanley fans into ecstasy.

What happened next sent them into orbit. From the restart James Gray unleashed a thunderbolt and the Reds won 3-2.

James Beattie called it sheer bliss in his post match interview.

If we can go away from home and win, despite not playing our best, then things are definitely looking up.

We now have two home Christmas games. On Boxing Day we entertain York and then it’s Southend three days later. Both are winnable games but I would be happy with four points and an away win at Fleetwood on New Year’s Day.

Happy Christmas to all East Lancashire football fans.
