Stephen Lowe column: We need festive fun after Exeter loss
I had been desperate for some football after a two-week gap courtesy of our exit from the cup, after half-an-hour of Saturday’s game I was looking back fondly at the previous Saturdays lack of match action.
We gave ourselves a mountain to climb after conceding three easy goals in the opening 20 minutes but to be honest the second half performance was much better and after pulling it back to 3-2 I was convinced we would at least get a point form the game.
Alas it was not to be and now we look to the four games over the festive period with a hope that we can gain at least six points from the tricky ties.
Off the field saw the transfer of Connor Mahoney to Blackburn Rovers, the 16-year-old has achieved his dream move and I wish him all the best for the future.
It is imperative that we build on our relationships with both Blackburn and Burnley if we are to survive in league football.
In years past I have seen the Rovers groundsman inspecting our pitch and offering his substantial advice, I have also heard of shared marketing ideas from Burnley.
Young players are a massive part of this ongoing partnership and long may it continue.
