Rhodes worth more than £10m now, says Blackburn Rovers boss
6:18pm Saturday 31st August 2013 in Football
GARY Bowyer hailed Jordan Rhodes after the striker grabbed a brace in the 4-1 win over Bolton - insisting the the Blackburn Rovers star must now be worth more than £10m.
Rhodes made it four goals in two games with a pair of smart finishes this afternoon and Bowyer was full of praise for the 23-year-old.
The Rovers boss reiterated that Rhodes is not for sale and he does not expect his star man to go anywhere before Monday night's transfer deadline.
"He's very important and he's proved again the quality he possesses," Bowyer said.
"The first one was an absolutely outstanding finish.
"It's not just his goals, it's his work rate. At times he plays against two big centre halves but he gets on with it and competes very well for us.
"When I first took the job I asked the owners about Jordan Rhodes and they said to me that Jordan wasn't for sale.
"As soon as 11pm comes on Monday you'll all have to think of a different question for me!
"He's better than £10m. I don't know what we paid but it was near that figure and he's gone and done it in the Championship last season.
"He's a goalscorer."
Bowyer was delighed with another fine display.
"I'm very pleased with the goal return, I thought we were very clinical again," he said.
"In the first half we might have had a couple more, their goalie made two outstanding saves, one from Ben Marshall and then from Jordan Rhodes.
"Fair play to Bolton, in the second half they came and had a right good go and you saw the character and desire to withstand the pressure we were under.
"Todd Kane clearing it off the line at 2-1 was a big moment and then it was a fantastic strike from Corry Evans."
