Stanley face non-league test
1:53pm Sunday 21st October 2012 in Sport
ACCRINGTON Stanley face a step into the world of non-league football in the first round of the FA Cup after yesterday’s draw handed them a trip to either Ilkeston Town or AFC Fylde.
The Reds, who were hoping for a moneyspinning Crown Ground clash, face a banana skin of either a trip to the Derbyshire outfit or a battle with Lancashire rivals AFC Fylde.
The non-league pair replay tonight after Saturday’s first game ended in a 1-1 draw at Kellamergh Park.
Ilkeston are managed by former Chelsea striker Kevin Wilson and are having a tough time of things in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division and are second from bottom.
Dave Challinor’s Fylde are in fith spot in the same league and a trip to Warton would be a tough test against an up and coming ambitous outfit.
Elsewhere, the Metropolitan Police were handed a plum FA Cup tie after being drawn at home to Crawley Town, while Portsmouth, who won the competition in 2008, entertain Notts County and Morecambe host Rochdale in a Lancashire derby.
