THEO Robinson's 89th minute leveller cancelled out Jordan Rhodes' opener as Blackburn Rovers' winless streak stretched to five matches at Derby County.

Caretaker boss Eric Black restored David Dunn and Morten Gamst Pedersen to the starting line-up, while Danny Murphy was dropped to the substitutes bench.

Rhodes gave Blackburn Rovers a deserved half time lead with a clinical finish on 35 minutes.

Colin-Kazim Richards' right wing cross was nodded off by Morten Gamst Pedersen and Rhodes brilliantly volleyed low into the bottom corner from 20 yards.

Bradley Orr almost doubled Rovers' lead after a quick counter attack minutes later, while Scott Dann had a header saved by goalkeeper Adam Legzdins earlier in the half.

At the other end Derby rarely threatened although Theo Robinson should have done better with a free header that he sent over midway through the half.

The hosts started the second half a lot brighter and almost levelled on 56 when Rovers' defence switched to allow Paul Coutts curl a shot inches over the bar.

Rovers struggled to create much going forward as the game wore on but Derby rarely threatened themselves, as Black's men looked defensively solid.

Substitute Michael Jacobs saw a free kick deflected just wide, with Robinson beaten, before Nathan Tyson had a shot saved by the Rovers stopper.

Mauro Formica steered a shot inches wide for the visitors, before Derby deservedly levelled on 89.

Craig Bryson's low strike was well saved by Robinson but Theo Robinson was on hand to steer home the rebound from a tight angle, via Rovers' keeper.

Second half performance terrible, pinned back most of the time by playing to deep. We are unable to keep a clean sheet irrespective of Hendry's so called defensive coaching - some players just going through the motions with no real commitment/spirit and we are definitely in need of a Manager with experience and passion - carry on like this with no hope of returning to the Premiership!!!!!!!!!

I listened on the radio. Sounded like they did the usual and defended too deep after scoring instead of going for a second to seal it. This shows me that Black is no different to SK in that respect - wrong tactics again. David Unsworth commentating said Rovers could easily have got 3 or 4 if they'd played Kazim Richards in the middle with Rhodes and not defended so deep. Derby were a poor team there for the taking. Pedersen, Dunn, Givet, Dann and Rhodes did best.

Holloway is favourite now but not sure he is right for us. He is a good manager at a certain level but not the guy to take us forward into the prem and keep us there. Absolutely spot on post.
Sam was ok taking over a good squad and getting 100 % off them but his quality of football was awful.
Never a plan b when we went behind playing hoof ball. I heard so many people say they'd rather we were down a division playing better football than what was on offer from Big Sam.
Well we are down a division but the football is definitely not better. Everything from top to bottom in the club is worse.
He was also very arrogant with it as well, a puppet on a string for his master Fergusson.

I'd love Highes back but it ain't gonna happen.
Who we get in is going to be a gamble but it needs to be done quick because we are sliding in the wrong direction in the league.

We have a quality finisher up front in Rhodes who will score given proper service but he needs a pacy striker with him for him to feed off.

It's not rocket science.... Unless ur name is Black, Hendry, Venkys or Singh.

Agree100% riversider. Now Mr RuINSANE,hughes may well have signed them mr insane he may well indeed Mr unsane but it was BFS managment skills that knitted them together and make them highly respected in football and one of the best defences in the PL before he was sacked.

Sammy Lee was in charge of the youth set up at Bolton ,and was asked to look after the first team until they appoint a new manager, prior to this absolute interim appointment little Sam was only responsible for the youth development.
At Rovers we have a assistant manager and then his assistant that are not interim but are in fact trying to get the managers job, it is a different scenario.

I thought at the beginning of this season that we could well be facing another relegation battle. Almost every game this season we have refelected on either a fortunate win or draw, or a defeat we deserved at the hands of Wolves and Boro.

The games we have won in particular against Leicester and Barnsley were very fortunate and lets face it, if it wasnt for those six points we would have been in serious trouble.

We are carrying too many players who either aren't good enough, or aren't putting enough effort into their training of the matches. We need to sort this out and fast, or we will sink into the abyss.

Selling Phil Jones was not a mistake he had a clause in his contract so we had no choice. Replacing him with Dann was the mistake. To explain my previous comment I assumed that when Sam was sacked Venky's were looking to bring in a big name manager. As it turned out they would go on to run the club as a profit making machine. This meant they needed a manager who works well in the premier league with limited resources and the man best placed to do that was the one they had just sacked .....DoH. Obviously we all want Mourinho and a 500million budget but on a shoe string who exactly do you think we should have employed? Over to you.............
