Blackburn Rovers again refused permission for Sherwood talks

BLACKBURN Rovers have again been knocked back in their efforts to speak to former skipper Tim Sherwood about their vacant managerial position.

Sherwood is high on Rovers’ wish list as they attempt to appoint a new boss to replace the departed Steve Kean.

But the 43-year-old is currently working as Tottenham’s technical co-ordinator and the North London club have now refused another approach from Rovers to speak to Sherwood.

For more on this story, see tomorrow’s Lancashire Telegraph.

Last two weeks they said the same - one name in media - Sherwood. Is there any confirmation about his interest in the job ?

Get one who act fast into the ground with players. even players also lost focus if u continue like this. Now Blackburn rovers Club is just like a headless chicken in the championship.

Hope Sherwood will soon find his Ewood love.

OGS has said he is staying at Molde until at least the end of the season and has distanced himself from a move to any Northwest club.

Sherwood has apparently said he would like to talk to the owners and is meant to be having a meeting with the Rao brothers in Switzerland to discuss things.
Although if this report is correct then he wont be meeting with them after all.

Personally I would like us to pursue Holloway and compensation is likely to be less and he has the experience and ability we need right now.

I have a horrible feeling you will be right.

Unless Sherwood forces the issue with Spurs and they relent and let him talk to Rovers (which is still possible as DL is known as a very hard negociator).

If Rovers turn their attention to IH I can see Blackpool also refusing us permission to speak to him - then Rovers will win one of our next 2 games and hey presto, slam dunk, Black will be appointed within 36 hours of us scaping a 1 0 win against some no hoper team.

We can't have it all ways. There has been complaints that they are looking for someone cheap. I am not particularly imbued with Sherwood but there's no doubt he wouldn't come cheap, either in compensation or wages. Yet it seems they won't give up the chase. Let's face it, they can't suit everbody with their choice and its not a decison I'd like to make. I fancy big Sam would still be here but for Venkys apalling, hasty decision. Now they are reaping the whirlwind. I'm just going to sit back now and await the decision. But if they get it wrong they might as well sell up....there won't be another chance!

Holloway is a better option. He likes teams to pass the ball and he has plenty of experience of managing footballers, which is something Sherwood doesn't have.

Would any other club in our position be interested in Sherwood as manager? The answer is surely no.

Kean had no playing career no managerial experience and lacked leadership skills or carisma,so when it went tits up the crowd gave him what he deserved, nothing. The

y didn't believe in him and they wanted him out.
Sherwood has all the above attributes except managerial experience, but he runs the youth system at Spurs and must be good at it because levy won't let him go.
I don't know if Sherwood is the answer, who is look at Hughes not doing well is he but I would think most fans would have him back.
There are no guarentees but I think its worth a gamble,OGS would be my first choice but Sherwood tiks similar boxes. As long as we don't get Black he is a step back.

Of course the decision to sack Big Sam is going to reverberate for many years to come. In that one swinging of the axe this club was cast into the wilderness. It was a diabolical business decision very badly executed, leaving a bad taste in the mouth. It was also the most stupid footballing decision, albeit applauded by some, particularly on here.

When Rovers stated that Samba was not for sale last year it was pretty obvious that he would get his move. He stated that he wanted to move on and move on he did. He stated that he could not promise to give his all for the club anymore. In situations like that, a club cannot hang on to an unhappy player.

If Sherwood wants the job badly enough, he can simply let it be known. He is also quite capable of resigning his post and then talk to Rovers of his own free accord. If he is certain that the job is his if we wants it, then that is all he needs to do. In effect he did force his move from Rovers to Spurs as a player, when Eric Hall his agent at the time promised to double his money. The shoe is on the other foot now, so Tim if you want the job, resign from Spurs.

Whether he is the right man for the job or not, only time will tell. When we hired Howard Kendall all those years ago, he was a novice manager. Despite that he took us from the old Third Division as champions in his first season to within goal difference of promotion, to the top flight, all on a shoestring. He went on to manage Everton to the championship, so a novice can some good!

Why are you still posting absolute tosh on here? Black can't possibly be as bad a manager as Kean. Apart from being an abysmal manager, Kean is a bare faced liar who lives in some sort of fantasy world he's a good manager. He manipulated his way into a job he had no right to have even been considered for and is not and never will be a decent manager in professional football. That said Black is not the man for the job either and like most human beings would not put up with the absolute bombardment of abuse Kean received because just for financial benefit and pig ignorance. Posting sh1t for a reaction suggests to me you've not much going on Dog, so go and wash your hair and paint your nails puff pants.

Wrong on so many levels. The reason AVB doesnt want him at the club is down to the fact that he has more respect from all players and staff at the football club and its showing him up. How can you say spurs dont even rate him when Levy wants him to become the director of football at the club and thats why hes refusing to let him speak to us plus 80% of the back room coatching staff would also be leaving to come to us if Sherwood was appointed manager, Which would cause huge problems at Spurs and unsettle players etc.

For me Sherwood would be a much better addition then the likes of Black,Holloway, McCarthy and Shearer

In 6 months, if we are at the bottom end of the Championship, it will cost a few more millions to fire him and replace him.
He is totally unproven as a Manager. If he wanted to be one, he could start off in the lower leagues and learn the trade. With the situation at Ewood we can't afford to be a training ground for maybe managers. Failure would be catastrophic.

All of SK management supporters are also capable of steering candidates away from this job as they probably do know just how bad this club is now being run but do not say this in public

3 weeks and no decision makes me comfortable that nothing has changed with Venkys, they are slow and unsure and have put themselves in to analysis paralysis, basically they could not pick their nose without a consultant telling them how

This could be an ideal situation for Venkys, they save a big compo payout for Sherwood and also avoid angering a significant number of fans by hiring an unproven manager. In return they can get Holloway, cheap at £500,000 reported fee and a proven manager that the majority of fans would welcome. The issue is Shebby can't boss Holloway around and so isn't keen.

Agree with the post - Levy likes him and wants him to stay but AVB wants his own appointment - but I think Levy will relent if Spurs get the right level of compensation money.Three million was mentioned last week so guess that it's that figure which is the key that opens the door for Tim.

Agreed although if Sherwood came, I'd get behind him but 3 weeks and they haven't sorted it is ridiculous. They should move on but the Global Advisor must have ulterior motives for not doing so. All names mentioned have more experience than Sherwood but experience is apparently not a priority...

There's just the £8million paid for Rhodes that keeps me hanging on to the hope that they will make a good appointment. Everything else points to it being more of the same stupidity. There was a light at the end of the tunnel when Kean went but now it's looking increasingly Black. :-((((

Well at last a bit of good news on the manager front. Ok Venkys and Singh had nothing to do with a common sense decision. Sherwood isn't a proven manager he is s coach and venkys should have learnt their lesson putting coaches into managers positions with Kean and Black. There again, when it comes to football clubs experience shows that venkys and learning don't go together. Who knows, maybe Singh is watching results at QPR and waiting for good king Harry to be brought in then he can bring Hughes back as a free agent and save any compensation. Derby must be over the moon at the thought of Black in charge on Saturday.

The reputation and position of Blackburn Rovers still hurtles downwards.
Yes, the start of the downward spiral by that one idiotic decision!

Oh dear, selective memory syndrome again I see. An average crowd of 10,000 and a manager who's just dropped you like a piece of sh1t for a lower league club? Now that's what I call a laughing stock.

Shebby ,
What about your co-commentator on ESPN , STEVE McMAHON, had his ups and downs in management ,but at least managed to get promotion for both Swindon and Blackpool, was the manager at Blackpool prior to HENDRY coming in and making a pigs a*rse out of his tenure as Blackpool Manager , the Pool supporters were grateful to Grayson who came in and sorted out Hendry`s mess.

We should go for either a big name or a young hungry manager with a good track record and who knows the game backward.

Of course Spurs will let you speak to Sherwood.

Daniel Levy is merely showing the chicken farmers how to conduct business.

Pretending they are so desperate to keep him - and you all fall for it - when AvB has already indicated he doesn't like him or even want him around the club!

Spurs don't even rate Sherwood. And I'm stumped if I can see why anyone else would either.

Agree with the post - Levy likes him and wants him to stay but AVB wants his own appointment - but I think Levy will relent if Spurs get the right level of compensation money.Three million was mentioned last week so guess that it's that figure which is the key that opens the door for Tim.
Just need our owners to show some intent (and cash) and sort that out ASAP now.
Utter tripe.

Are you seriously suggesting for one second that Levy would consider keeping Sherwood when AvB wants him out?

Or that AvB is somehow "jealous" of Sherwood?

If Levy loves Deadwood so much why didn't he make HIM manager? Er because he thought he'd get a proper manager.

Sherwood only got a position at Spurs because he was a mate of Jamie Redknapp's. And that is a sorry fact.

But keep on believing the hype about him being hot property?

Can you not see that on a basic level Tim Sherwood is scum? He's a piece of work. White bread.

You are being played by Levy and it's hilarious that you can't even see it. The more he pretends to want to keep him (£3m compo I believe HAHAHA) the more you seem to believe he has some sort of talent.

Levy will let him go alright. You'll pay through the nose and he'll ruin you. Deadwood's ambitious alright - but he'll have no loyalty to you lot.
Wow - why are you so jealous of the possibility us getting Sherwood as our next manager? That is quite a rant even for a deluded claret. Has Howe's betrayal (almost equal to Coyle's) hurt you so badly that you need to slag-off everything Rovers do...? Just because your (ex) manager would rather go build sandcastles on Bournemouth beach rather than continue with the impossible task of building the shambles at the Turf into a football club, please do not bring your inane ramblings onto our site.

anyway it may be Holloway and not Sherwood that comes to Ewood - but guess that you will have plenty to slag him off for too....maybe your next manager can be one of our dregs that we didn't want? I will ask Shebby to send you the 'not wanted' list.

I've gone out of my way to say why he would be a rubbish manager.

He's unproven as as yet but being as he is sub human scum I think he would damage Blackburn.

One last thing I support LEEDS.
