Jordan Reilly
JORDAN Reilly is a double history maker at FIT2XL Amateur Boxing Club.
Not only is the talented teenager the Lower Darwen club’s first ever amateur boxing champion he also became the first boxer to win the North West region junior welterweight title.
Reilly was up against the dangerous and undefeated Theerpat Neuto from Barrow ABC in Preston.
“The bout was the contest of the night as both fighters shown grit, determination, heart and fantastic boxing skills,” said coach Dezzi Higginson.
“It was nip and tuck stuff but Jordan showcased the more decisive scoring shots, which was reflected by the judges decision.
“Jordan has also made history as this was the first time the belt was contested for in the Welter weight junior division.”
Jordan is in action again this weekend in the finals of the North-West Region Amateur Boxing Association Junior Championships at the Grange School Sports Hall, Gorton – and he will be joined by club-mate Omar Osmond.
While Jordan had a ‘bye’, Omar eased through to the finals, beating Fawad Azimi from Amir Khan’s Gloves ABC in Bolton.
