Late strike seals win for Colne

A late strike by Paul Fildes handed all three points to Colne after they had surrendered an early two-goal lead.

Nigel Coates’ side were 2-0 up inside nine minutes thanks to a Mark Coyne goal and an excellent free kick from Paddy O’Brien.

Winsford were back in the game on the half hour mark when Louis Maynard blasted home through a ruck of players.

The visitors were the stronger of the sides after the break and Andrew Hurst toe-poked an equaliser on 58.

But Colne pushed forward in search of a winner And with just five minutes left the pressure finally paid off when Fildes picked up a loose ball and blasted home with the help of a deflection off Lee Duckworth.
