Shock for Ramsbotttom

Ramsbottom United returned home wondering just how they had managed to lose a game they dominated for 90 minutes.

The visitors missed a host of chances, and even squandered a penalty, and as so often happens, they paid the ultimate price when two minutes from time the hosts stole the points.

The Rams bossed the first half but could not convert any of their chances with Jon Robinson seeing a header crash against the bar.

But the pressure looked to have paid off in the 56th minute when Danny Warrender was brought down but Gary Stopworth hit the post from the spot.

And to add insult to injury, New Mills scored the winner two minutes from time when Dave Fitzpatrick’s free kick squeezed home.
