Clarets boss Howe blasts poor defending

FURIOUS Burnley manager Eddie Howe blamed individual errors and “suicidal defending” in letting a 2-0 lead slip to lose 4-3 at Crystal Palace.

The Clarets led through second league goals of the season for Chris McCann and Martin Paterson.

But Wilfried Zaha crucially pulled one back for Palace before the break.

Zaha equalised with his second early in the second half – with Burnley conceding both on the counter-attack.

Damien Delaney and Glenn Murray went on to make it 4-2 going into the final 15 minutes.

Charlie Austin scored his 11th goal in six games to set up a frenetic finale, but the equaliser evaded Burnley.

However, Howe admitted the Clarets should never have been on the back foot in the first place.

“It's hugely disappointing to lose the game,” he said.

“To score the amount of goals we are at the minute and not getting the points is hugely frustrating.

“We feel very low. At 2-0 up we were well in control. The first goal was a frustrating one to concede, and the manner of the second one – four versus two – was suicidal defending away from home “We set up not to do that. We changed the system to be tighter with three in midfield.

“But we are making individual errors and it's costing us.”

You need the word ' quite' after the last word 'not'
Your sentence structure is appalling!
Mind you, we shouldn't expect anything other than an incomplete, simplistic sentence, should we..............

Grant letting goals in again , individual errors , get ya hands in your pockets burnley board and buy a decent keeper, strengthen the defence and we'll be ok, all those calling for Eddies head , I watched the post match interview and you can see he's as angry and frustrated as we are, ffs we don't want to be changing managers again do we? I've got faith in EH and I think he can sort it, if we're still in the same situation by Christmas then maybe we can call for a change till then let's give him chance to sort it, hes got two weeks break now to try anyway, UTC

Tell me how many clarets fans thought we had 3 points in the bag when we went 2-0 up yesterday.

I turned to my son and said 2 goals won't be enough but I didn't expect that.

It seems it doesn't matter how many we score it won't be enough.

Ok i agree with some comments regarding a new keeper but those who keep blaming Grant must be blind to the fact that the back 4 are doing him no favours what so ever and the midfield needs to be tougher and help out better defensively as well as doing there own job in the middle of the park.

I fear for the team when we meet the likes of Cardiff,Wolves,Leeds
,Forest,Blackpool and even the B@st@rds because the will get a hat full of goals if we don't sort ourselves out and quickly or we really will be the JOKE in this league.

Part of the problem may be down to individual errors. But equally at fault is the manager for failing to address the issues over what is now almost two years in the role.

We have been leaking goals now for the last three years so signings during this time, team selection and tactics are at fault.

The "Beast" is not the answer as whoever plays behind this defence is on a loser. Grant has in fact been one of our better performers this year.
