FULL TIME: Blackburn Rovers 0 Wolverhampton Wanderers 1
5:12pm Saturday 6th October 2012 in Sport
THE post Steve Kean Ewood Park era started in disappointment this afternoon as Blackburn Rovers crashed 1-0 at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers, writes Laura Jayne Gorse.
Returning Blackburn Rovers fans were left disappointed today as a second half screamer from Wolves’ Bakary Sako left Rovers with their second successive home defeat of the season.
Wolves started well and Sako had an early shot in the 4th minute that forced Robinson into a save to his left hand corner.
Blackburn looked poor and gave the away side too much space in the middle of the park. Two minutes later Ebanks Blake had a shot that flew over the cross bar.
The home side had a glimmer of a chance on nine minutes when Kazim-Richards played in Rhodes, but the striker’s effort was saved easily by Carl Ikeme.
Rovers had a scare in the 14th minute as Kazim Richards went down seemingly in some considerable pain, only to jog it off minutes later.
Wolves continued to have the majority of the possession and against run of play; Rovers had a penalty shout turned down in the 16th minute. Jordan Rhodes looked to be pushed as he climbed to meet a Kazim-Richards cross, only for the ref to wave play on.
Minutes later Ebanks-Blake should have scored as he saw his header hit Paul Robinson's left post.
Rovers were in Wolves’s six yard box in the 22nd minute as Martin Olsson charged down the left side and delivered a low cross into the box. Kazim Richards left it for Rhodes, but the young striker was unable to reach it.
Rhodes had another chance before half time but his shot was blocked by two defenders. He managed to collect the rebound but his second shot was weak and Ikeme saved easily.
Fabio Nunes replaced Mauro Formica at the start of the second half, and the young Portuguese player made an immediate impact with a cross come shot in the 50th minute that had Wolves’ keeper back peddling backwards towards his goal.
Rovers never looked threatening after the break and Wolves had the better chances in the second half. Rovers needed three defenders to block Sako’s shot on 71 minutes. Moments later substitute Anthony Forde saw his shot fly wide of Rovers post.
Wolves’ persistence paid off though and when Danny Murphy lost the ball in the 76th minute, Sako let off a left-foot rocket that flew past Paul Robinson leaving the Rovers keeper no chance.
Rovers tried to push for an equaliser but their efforts came to nothing and they never looked like threatening the away sides lead.

Three centre backs, (of which 2 think think a pass is a punt up the pitch to nobody), a wing-back system with Orr (who is a complete cr&p, lightweight) and Olsson - a player nobody seems to want to pass to even when he is in space. Formica and Lowe were anonymous and there was no room for Gomes or Rochina. Ker-lue-less.

Pack your bags, Mssrs Black & Hendry . You had your chance and you blew it. We need somebody in charge who wants to - and knows how to get players to - play good football as a team. Blindingly bleeding obvious, or what.

No pressure on the ball in midfield who see their job as passing back for the long punt. Entertainment value today was 0 -and Rovers got what they deserve not helped by really poor officials but the players looked like they had no idea what to do on or off the ball.
Stop messing about Shebby Venkys need told and an experienced Manager with a game plan is requires as soon as possible and before the next game
One thing for certain if Black regards that as entertainment - tere will be one less season ticket holder next year at Ewood I have seen more effort a=more commitment and more quality in non league football than I saw in 90 minutes ar Ewood today

From the attititude and application of the players in the last three games it appears that they were not quite so eager as you were to see the back of Kean but what the hell do they know? They only took us to the top of the table just before you had him sacked.
I am not sure why Pedersen bothered turning up today as it is perfectly obvious that he is never going to get a game as long as Shebby the Snake is picking the team. How can Mort get a match when we have such midfield maestros as Murphy and Lowe bosssing the game?
So, give yourselves a great big slap on the back tonight, and perhaps lick your elbows and envelopes as you send your letters to Santa to deliver Shearer as the Saviour by Christmas.

SS needs to act quickly, get in a young, prograssive manager (OGS or Karl Robinson for me) to whip these individuals (they don't play like a team) into shape or this seasons automatic promotion slots will have got away from us before the end of October.
Venkys, act quickly and (for once!!) correctly and appoint the right man to take us forward without further dithering.

4 games without a win for us at this level is unacceptable, irrespective of the managerial situation. Some of those players are going through the motions and are not committed to the cause. A high calibre manager would not accept this situation and would put the poor players out of the team.
I still have a nasty feeling it will be Black though. He wants the job, it doesn't appear we have done anything this week in looking/interviewing candidates and Black would be the easy and cheap option, popular with the players because he gives them an easy ride.

Kean's right hand man, personally selected by Kean himself, who sees the Rovers job as a top role had the perfect opportunity to inspire the team and stake his claim. The crowd clapped and cheered every good effort, piece of football or forward pass, but they were hardly heard all the game, such was the scarcity of FOOTBALL! Was I at a football match today? I hardly saw any. Black must have the charisma and motivatory powers of a black slug. He certainly has no tactical nous except for "If you don't know what to do, just trot about slowly and watch. Point and shout now and then." and "When in doubt pass it backwards".
Murphy had not a spark of creativity all day. Rovers will never win a battle with this 'midfield general'. Rhodes could do with a better first touch, but he was scrambling for scraps and never once had anything served on a plate. K-R was similar and looked depressed as did all the team. Robbo is now fat and lazy, in the warm up he never dived for balls where he would have to stretch hisself and he was quick to blame Murphy for the goal. Murphy was to blame for giving the free kick away but Robbo's position must have been poor to concede a goal from that angle. (but i need to see a replay).
Orr was enthusiastic and got into space but hardly received the ball. When he did receive it, however, he did nothing with it at all. I don't think K-R passed to him the whole game. He must know how bad he is.
Martin Olsson showed a few bits of attacking flair and crosses and was my man of the match, even though he was hardly involved in the game.
It was scrappy, it was boring, I hope it is the end of Black and that Shebby and Venkys saw for themselves Black, Hendry and staff should not be allowed near the team again. They left early so I hope that is a good sign.

The only good thing to come out of the game was that Eric Black has proved he is nowhere near enough being the right man for the job.
The team was negative, the set up was negative and his lack of a substitution at the end was negative.
Where was the invention, passion or knowledge to win a game of football?
We need someone in quick who has the balls and pedigree to grab the club by the scruff of the neck and shake it upside down before this season becomes a chase for the playoffs.
I'm trying to remain positive but after today I can't see much positivity.
I've got rovers in my blood but when it's so frustrating it hurts.
Surely if the fans can see what needs to be done the the do called management can.
Come on you blues and come on venkys, get somebody in quick.

The team and hence their levels of fitness were kean's and HIS number 2 kept much to his system apart from making us a little more secure at the back - some improvement in only a short time.
We still have many problems but if a man had a cold, a bit of arthritis, cataracts, potentially terminal cancer, noisy neighbours, a rusty car and an out of date 'phone the best thing you could do for him would be to cure his cancer - and we have done that for Rovers by getting rid of the idiot that you appear to miss.

Shebby the Snake has simply played to the mindless minority by undermining Kean rather than keeping his forked tongue out of it and working in the background to find a longer term solution. Now we will have a further period of uncertainty and inertia with a procession of pretenders putting themselves forward and Shebby the Snake appointing the successor solely on the support that the candidates muster on these sites.
Oh, and by the way, I do recognise sarcasm and a foul mothed insult fuelled by ignorance and a lack of vocabulary. It's difficult to contribute objectively to a constructive debate without an education but congratulations though for giving it a good little go.

Home attendance slightly disappointing, but no worse than you can expect given all the circumstances.
Not convinced Shearer would be the right man as manager, even though he is the best player ever to play for Rovers. Still prefer Hill or Grayson, can't see Di Canio leaving Swindon to move North. Gus Poyet a possibility? Done a marvellous job at Brighton with limited funds.

Don't get me wrong, i was not disappointed when he signed, but he looks so off the pace and lacking in fitness, not to mention motivational powers that he surely has little future in this team under a new manager.
When you look at the fact that he stayed on the pitch today, for me it speaks volumes about Black - he clearly doesn't have the bottle to manage at this club for fear of upsetting this senior pro - if you're not good enough, you're not good enough, regardless of previous clubs/ caps for your country etc.
Murphy should be doing for us what Graham Roberts did for Chelsea or Gordon Strachan did for Leeds in the late 1980's. Apologies to younger readers, but I was in my teens back then and when these senior pro's took the step down to the then 2nd division, they stood out head and shoulders above the rest and drove their teams to promotion. Perhaps you could say the same of Kevin Moran when he joined us.
For me Black confirmed today that he is not seriously in the running to take the job full time. The shame is though, you just can't trust Venky's to see this.

Leicester out played us ~~~ we got away with it
Middlesbrough out played us
Barnsley where as good if not better than us ~~~~ we got away with it
Wolves where better than us
Hull where as good as us. ~~~~ we scrapped that game
Notice a pattern just on the home games
9 points we robbed we could have been looking at 0
As for the away games Leeds Bristol Charlton Ipswich Forrest
How many did we dominate Bristol ??
The rest fortunate at best
Time for some truths
We got relegated cos we weren't good enough and the same applies now
We could be in the bottom 3 quite easily
Last 2 games there goal keepers had just 5 shots to save between them
Playing 6 defenders in a team will get you relegated Don't score. Don't win
Orr Olson murphy Dunn Pederson Dann and Robinson should not be first teamers squad maybe but that's at best
If you put hand on heart and think where going to cruise this league

Players over 30 ish are past it as the demands of football require fast energetic individuals who can keep on going for 90 minutes.
That means players like Murphy, Dunn, and others over 30 would have to go or let their contracts finish.
We have many young ones that have been bought in lately, although untried., I believe we need to give them a chance as they may give 90 minutes of energy and commitment which is surely required.

However, two hard drinking Scottish deadbeats are more than adequate for a club of your stature. You used to manage with just one! While Kean left you and is soon to sue I understand (well it was an impossible situation what with interference from all sides - as his lawyers will no doubt attest - and I of course will believe Steve Kean's lawyers), you will just have to make do with his self appointed replacement - Mr Black.
I'd like to see a bit more of Shebby Kean around the dug out. Him and Hendry could have fruitful discussions about the midfield tactics, and these could be passed on to Black, who would benefit greatly from Shebby and Colin's experience.
I trust you find this advice to be of use.
Or you could just appoint Alan Shearer. And then I will laugh my f*ucking head off.
Go ahead....make my day

Overall, a pure dis-organised f**k up from Blackburn. But some good debating from Blackburn fans showing they know what logical things should and need to happen. Stick with it guys, only October...
