FULL-TIME: Crystal Palace 4, Burnley 3

MARTIN Paterson ended his goal drought, but Burnley couldn't stop their habit of conceding goals.

The Clarets took a 2-1 lead into the break thanks to Paterson's first since the opening day of the season – a stunning hooked effort – soon after Chris McCann had put the visitors in front in the 26th minute.

Wilfried Zaha pulled one back for Crystal Palace just before the break.

And the winger picked up where he left off by equalising early in the second half.

Zaha, who had beaten Kieran Trippier in a foot race for the first, got the better of Burnley on the break to level matters.

After Jason Shackell volleyed straight into the keeper's hands at one end, Zaha burst forward at the other and tucked the ball beyond Lee Grant.

Palace took the lead in the 66th minute after David Edgar headed the ball towards Damien Delaney, who made no mistake.

Striker Glenn Murray added a fourth – tapping in a cross from the left - with 15 minutes to go and it looked to be game over.

Charlie Austin gave hope of a comeback with his 11th goal in six games.

But there was no last-ditch comeback for the Clarets in response to a second-half capitulation.

A goalkeeper urgently required that is my view,Grants reactions are unbelievably far too slow. The ball is hitting the back of the net before he has moved and on Saturday one went straight through his legs and hit the net! I believe he is not relaxed and it appears he is very low on confidence , he has been like that a long time.Take him out of the team and get a new Keeper that is the thing to do.Also what about giving a chance to Kevin Long, he hasnt had a look in,he has performed really well for Accystan in the past ,and is certainly worth considering!

I'm sure I'll be one of many who will agree with you claret and blue 1882.Whilst playing amateur football at a reasonable level in the 1960's and 70's,the first thing our manager(who had kept goal for North End Reserves)made sure our goalkeeper did was command his area as much as possible, and certainly his 6 yard box at all times. He then controlled the defenders in front of him by shouting and organising the defence.Considering the difference in physical contact allowed on a goalkeeper these days compared to then, surely this should not be a problem. If a keeper is not controlling these areas then that could be a major reason for the defence being drawn too far back and so uncertain.Surely Mr. Howe knows this.
