Shaw: Rovers job will attract major interest
10:30am Monday 1st October 2012 in Sport
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
DEREK Shaw believes the vacant Blackburn Rovers managerial position will attract significant interest from people “in and out of work” as the search for Steve Kean’s successor begins.
Rovers’ managing director told the Lancashire Telegraph yest-erday both he and global advisor Shebby Singh had already heard from potential candidates and that a strategy would be drawn up at a meeting today.
Shaw, who confirmed Kean’s Friday night’s resignation came as a shock to everyone at the club, insisted it was time to move on from the past as they look forward to “interesting times”.
Shaw said: “I had a chat with Shebby Singh on Saturday and will sit down on Monday and discuss a strategy. I already have had one or two names of people who would be interested and I think Shebby has also had one or two.
“We have gone past the days when the job will be advertised.
“People who are interested will get in touch with us, either themselves or through their agents.
“There is an international break coming up as well which helps but it is difficult to put a time scale on it. We don’t know what might happen and we are open to everything at the moment.
“It is a big decision. We have to keep the owners informed with what is going on and we have to advise them and help them where we can. These are extremely interesting times.
“Eric Black will remain in charge for the foreseeable future.
“Without a shadow of a doubt we all have an open mind on what happens next. I have been involved with appointing managers before and most come across well and say all the right things.
“The proof at the end of it all is in the results. We know the right decision that has to be made because it is important we get back to the Premier League.”
Shaw revealed the first he heard about Kean’s exit was when he received a phone call from the media on Friday night, telling him Kean’s lawyers had released a statement with his resignation on.
He admits he has no idea what prompted his decision on the eve of Saturday’s trip to Charlton, but was keen for everyone to move on and look to the future.
He said: “This is a fresh start. Steve has decided to move on and Blackburn Rovers have to move on.
“There has been enough said.
“In fairness, he probably felt that we can’t go on (the way things were). You win a couple of games and things go quiet, then you lose and there’s booing and the aggravation that goes with that.
“He’s a married man, he’s got children and I think he’s just had enough so he’s decided to call it a day. It can happen to all of us.”

Get Shearer/Sherwood/New
ell in for the Wolves game. We don't want weeks and weeks of rumour and speculation in the media and among the fans. We had enough of that over the last two years. We are tired of all that rubbish. Just do your job Mr. Shaw and Venkys and get the right people in now.

Sometimes I'm convinced that its a Blackburn fan writing these Burnley posts to make them look stupid. This seriously isn't a genuine person. Is it?

ell - excellent players and servants of the club, but what is involved in managing a Championship Club and could they do the job? The list of excellent players, and fan's favourites, who have failed as managers, is endless. Hill and Grayson have made good starts in management and seem ambitious. If we are looking at building bridges between club and supporters, Gary Flitcroft could probably do that. But, please, don't employ a flash marquee name. It's about rebuilding a club which has been disasterously dismantled, and putting its heart back in.

This in itself is a very worrying statement. We need a new manager in place and the speculation put to bed very quickly so that the club can get on with trying to get promotion. Leaving a caretaker in place for anything more than 2-3 games could be fatal with regards to trying to win this league. Whilst I don't doubt that Eric Black would be an improvement on Kean (at least he has played football and managed before) his name shouldn't even be whispered when discussing the new manager. We need a fresh start and a proper manager, not Kean's buddy and another 'coach' - appointing him would prove Venky's are doing things on the cheap and have not learnt anything from their mistakes.

Everyone in football can see that the club is now run by a bunch of incompetents - ask yourself this serious question - would you want to work for this shower?
Somebody at the club has got to get the next appointment spot on, or I fear the chaos will go on and on. I've got everything crossed, but I'm still worried!

We all know why "WILD ROVER " is ranting on like a halfwit , because when you have gambled all your money away and then "borrowed:" the life savings from your friends then gambled all that away ,and you go bankrupt , you need to use all sorts of cunning and caniving tactics to make yourself appear a decent fellow , but please stop using the LET to post good things about yourself to get the job as manager at Rovers it won`t happen and anyway look at your management record ,basically pathetic ,sorry CH you are the weakest link.
Blacks management track record /history seems to be taking over as caretaker from a manager who he worked for that was left usually sacked then he would hang around for 5/6 games as caretaker manager then the club he worked for would realise the guys not a MANAGER sack him and then the cycle would start again.
