Lowe insists Rovers in safe hands under Black
12:30pm Monday 1st October 2012 in Sport
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
JASON Lowe insists Blackburn Rovers are in safe hands under caretaker boss Eric Black after describing Steve Kean’s resignation on Friday night as a “massive shock”.
Rovers’ academy product revealed a team meeting was called at their London hotel, halfway through their dinner, for Kean to announce he was stepping down as manager.
The 21-year-old declined to comment on the board’s search for a successor but was adamant that Black had the full respect of every player as he takes the reigns temporarily.
Black, who was Kean’s assistant, looks certain to be at the helm for Wednesday’s trip to Nottingham Forest and Saturday’s home clash with Wolves, with Lowe just looking forward to ‘getting on with the job’.
He said: “It is not for me to say anything about the appointment. My job is to play football and to try to help this football club get results. “The long term goal is to get promotion and that is all that I am focused on.
“The next manager who comes in, whoever that may be, I will work as hard and I’m sure the other lads will be fully committed as well.
“Eric is certainly a fantastic coach. He has got a great presence about him and his enthusiasm is infectious on the training field.
“Whoever they appoint, I am sure it will be the right choice and all the lads will get behind him.
“Until that decision is made the club is absolutely in safe hands with Eric.”
Kean had been under heavy pressure as Rovers boss for months and it is understood owners Venky’s had already decided the Scot had no long term managerial future at Ewood Park.
His departure could have come as no surprise to anyone but, having stated he would not walk away just hours earlier, the manner of his exit stunned everyone.
“We were halfway through our dinner on Friday night and a meeting was called,” said Lowe. “We had an idea then. It was not very nice, it was a horrible way to do it.
“But when that happens you can’t dwell on it. We get on with our job.
“For me it was unexpected the way it happened, the night before a game. But nothing surprises me within football. It was a shock on Friday night but as professional footballers you have to respond and do your job.
“Personally he has brought me into the team, let me express myself and I will always be grateful to him for that.
“He was a good guy.”

Black would be a big mistake. He would be seen as another yes man. I dont know whether thats fair or not, but its what will happen.

Now is the time to get behind the team and the club. First at Forest and then the first visit to Ewood this season on Saturday.

I think we should get a woman manager as the likely hood is that she wont be bald and she will be able to relate properly to Mrs Desai who makes all the decisions so they can work things out whilst knitting together.

If it's to be Black then I for one will get behind him. Promotion has now got to be the aim and everyone who cares about BRFC should get behind the players and manager (whoever that may be now that Kean has gon).

Pity we didn`t play our games down at the training ground then, because Iv`e seen no sign of the above on match days from the payers let alone Black, who just seems to stand motionless and in silence, apart from when he wants to show his displeasure at fans for having a pop at his beloved Kean.
Black in charge is just a case of; Same Sh-t, Different Shovel.

No disrespect to Eric Black but I think that he should not be appointed on the basis of association. I think the fans need to see and feel a complete break from Kean. I don't want McCarthy as I think he would get us up and send us down! I would be happy with someone who is unproven suchg as Sherwood or Shearer. I think an inexerienced manager can make more mistakes in the championship and home their skills so when back in the premiership we would have a fightinfg chance. After all, think what would of happened if no one gave Jose Mourinho a chance?

Self centered ambitions ruthlessly exploited for purely financial gain via a mouthpiece from afar.
The guff that emanated from that orifice in no way presented itself on the pitch thus just what was the agenda ?
Pipe dreams with the added bonus of a cool £1.3 million. So it goes................

Yes, Lowe is more than entitled to give such an opinion, and I don't for a moment infer the odious one was not beneficial for Lowe in this particular period of his career, but now the real test begins for all these players under a new regime. Will Lowe be speaking in such glowing terms of the next manager.? Should I have the privilege of being a part of the new set-up as a footballer down at Brockhall, I am quite sure that the new regime will highlight just how poor the previous regime was. I don't profess to be an expert on all matters football, but even I reached the point that what was on show, for all it's intended purpose(s), was amateur at best, and with a one part plan it was never to succeed.
I'm more than pleased that he has left, but with this imposter, there is and will be a sting in the tail thus the good guy quote will be found to be hollow in terms of what he did at/for BRFC.
Moving on quickly now.................

But some where he lost connection with fans. comments with management also.
Still Steve Kean "my best wishes" What is good in him for last 21 month, only the players know. Let the truth come out from players that "Who is Kean, What type of support and influance they got in the last 21 months in blackburn",
Still there is some positive in him, hope he write a book called "Kean OUT" very soon. All the best.
