Burnley manager's anger at disallowed goal

EDDIE Howe has described Junior Stanislas’ controversial disallowed goal as ‘a killer blow’ for Burnley as Millwall came back to claim a late draw at Turf Moor.

The Clarets led 2-1 midway through the second half when Stanislas exchanged passes with Martin Paterson before finding the net.

Millwall protested but Burnley were almost ready to kick off again when consultations between referee Craig Pawson and linesman William Smallwood saw the goal ruled out for offside, causing uproar around Turf Moor.

Darius Henderson then made it 2-2 in injury time.

“It was a real killer blow for us,” Howe said of the decision to rule out Stanislas’ goal.

“I thought we were 3-1 up for a good period of time, certainly the players felt the same way and the crowd did as well.

“I’ve never seen decision like that in football in all my life.

“It was very cruel on us because mentally you think you’re 3-1 up with a two-goal cushion, the game’s potentially over.

“So to then have to play the game out knowing there was only one goal in it was a psychological blow for us.”

Didn' t know Burnley had chucked away a lead, was out driving to Blackpool, and caught the score of 3 -1 on the radio, until the wife said "turn that sh** off". Imagine my surprise and sheer joy when I read the paper on line tonight.

The fact of the matter is once again we have conceeded two goals in a game and to be honest from their second half performance when they had more of the play than us Millwall desrerved their goal and point and nearly snatched all three points at the death. Which from a Clarets point of view is not good enough yet again against a team in the bottom three. About the disallowed goal I noticed their manager did not contest the original decision to award the Clarets a goal but if we are the team that Eddie keeps going on about we should be able to show enough character to put these disappointments behind us and go on and beat these kind of teams. I am afraid that I do not agree with his decision not to go into the loan market because he believes the team is good enough. Well, Eddie displays against Swindon and Millwall in the second half tell us that the players that you have are not good enough as results don't lie and neither does the league table. It's Sheffield Wednesday up next and they have lost their last five games in a row . No doubt they will be looking forward to playing us at present as we seem to be a team of father christmas's - presenting teams with a gift.
