Howe's delight as Ings steps up training

BURNLEY boss Eddie Howe has expressed his delight after Danny Ings was given the all clear to step up his recovery from a knee operation.
Ings, right, required surgery after damaging his knee cartilage in August, having missed much of last season following an operation on the other knee.
The 20-year-old was initially ruled out for up to six months but surgery later revealed that he was likely to be back in around three months.
The striker has now been cleared to start running as he continues his rehabilitation and, although Howe is not yet setting a date for his return, the Clarets boss has taken great encouragement from Ings’ swift recovery.
“Since the operation Danny has felt really good,” said Howe, who will take late decisions on whether Junior Stanislas and Jason Shackell are fit to return from hamstring injuries for tomorrow’s home game against Millwall.
“He’s felt strong enough to start running but he had to wait for the surgeon to give the okay and now he’s got that.
“It’s great news.
“Things are going really well in his rehab.
“He’s not back yet but we did fear losing him for six, seven or eight months so hopefully that won’t be the case and he’ll be back in a short period.
“I think he himself feared the worst after what he went through last year, but he’s feeling good at the moment.
“Danny will do everything he can to get back as quickly as he can, he’s that type of character.”
