Bacup set to Fry high at dinner

THE charismatic Barry Fry is booked to be the guest speaker at Bacup Borough Football Club’s dinner which will be held in their own Sports Bar in November.

The event, which takes place on November 1, should be entertaining as Fry brings his own brand of hunour and stories to West View.

Fry is a former Manchester United apprentice, he also played for Bolton, Luton and Leyton Orient and also managed and owned Peterborough United, where he still holds the position of chief executive.

Fry was also part of the fly on the wall TV programme that involved Steve Bleasdale and Ron Atkinson.

Meanwhile, on the field Borough boss Brent Peters was understandably delighted after Saturday’s excellent 4-1 win over Runcorn Linnets.

Borough were simply stunning and Peters enthused: “The entire team produced football of the highest quality for 90 minutes against a very good Runcorn side.

“The entertainment value and the quality of football was 10 out of 10 a sheer joy to watch, we played at a tempo that Runcorn could not get near and with this they were never going to get a foothold in the game.

It was no surprise that the opposition changed their shape following the break, such was the determination and concentration of the Bacup players.”
