We will work it out, vows Burnley boss Howe

BURNLEY boss Eddie Howe promised hard work on the training ground as he looks to tighten up his Clarets after they crashed out of the Capital One Cup at League One Swindon last night.

The Clarets were beaten 3-1 by Paolo Di Canio's men - and Howe believed his men were the architects of their own downfall in Wiltshire.

Burnley knew they were in for a battle against a side who had already produced two upsets and Howe lamented: “We started really well and had our chances but goals change games and their goals did that.

“The defending again at the second phase of set plays hurt us and we have to tighten up - and that will be our objective through hard work, there is no other way.

“If you take away the goals we conceded we always looked like we would score but goals change games.”

The Robins opened the scoring with their first shot on target when veteran Paul Benson fired home.

Andy Williams's third goal in as many games just before the break made it 2-0, but Burnley pulled one back through former Swindon striker Charlie Austin.

However, defender Troy Archibald-Henville completed the win late on.

Looks like you'll be back to where you belong in no time. Well done Howe - doing for Rovers fans what Kean does for you lot.

so goals change matches do they? eddie its about time you sorted the defence out, at the moment simply not good enough- and buy a decent keeper while you are at it

Eddie, it's well and truly your lot now so yes it is up to you to sort it or sadly you will become the one to blame. Noticed no comments allowed re the passing away of John Bond, as a supporter home and away throughout the 80's one can certainly say his time at Burnley must rank as his least proud in football. He certainly gave a lasting impression.

After seeing the result and team selected to play Swindon, I would say that E.H and the tam he seleced deserved what they got, humiliation. I fwehave players who cannot ply 2 or 3 matches a week get rid of them.. When the keeper is made the man of the matchthat says a lot about te rest of the team. E.H is still learning his trade. Get rid of him, get a good manager, and get rid of the players who are not fit enough to play the game. I hope our result will be a lesson to other managers not to underestimate the oppostion. Good luck to Swindon.
