Full time: Swindon 3 Burnley 1
10:37pm Tuesday 25th September 2012 in Sport
Paolo Di Canio’s Swindon advanced to the fourth round of the Capital One Cup thanks to an impressive victory over npower Championship side Burnley at the County Ground.
First-half goals from Paul Benson and Andy Williams put the League One hosts in the ascendancy and Troy Archibald-Henville sealed matters seven minutes from time after Charlie Austin had given the Clarets hope.
The visitors made the brighter start, with former Robins striker Austin going to closest to opening the scoring when he saw an early header cleared off the line by Swindon left-back Jay McEveley.
But on 19 minutes, McEveley turned provider as the home team took the lead against the run of play, his whipped left-wing cross neatly turned in on the half-volley by Benson.
Burnley continued to dominate possession - with midfielder Chris McCann and Austin both spurning decent opportunities - but it was Swindon who doubled their advantage on 41 minutes.
After a succession of misplaced passes, the ball found its way to Williams, who outpaced the Burnley defence and finished coolly past Brian Jensen.
Austin eventually marked his return to the County Ground with a scrappy tap-in on 75 minutes, but Archibald-Henville’s 83rd-minute header - his first goal for the League One side - secured the win.

Mr Oyston and family could doubtless give the Burnley Board some sound advice, (see above link).
Blackpool have been through some rough times too, but they seem to have husbanded their financial resources in an exemplary manner, fully utilising promotion and parachute money. Burnley, by comparison appear to have frittered away their millions and now have sweet F.A. to show for it.
The future's bright. The future's orange. It sure ain't Claret and Blue, (sad to say).

If we do not perform against Millwall on Saturday then i will be getting worried.
Have said before agree that to date Blackpool have made a better job of managing finances and running a similar size football club than have the BFC directors.
But then again even they look competent compared to the goings on at Blackburn.

Lets see Blackpools finanial report after a second season in the Championship
Rather disengenous to imply that Swindon are a poor team when they have only lost 14 of their last 63 games under Di Caneo and are 3 points off automatic promotion to the champiponship! but thats claretmeandyou who seems unable to comprehend the real position that Burnley FC are in! Hes a Champagne on beerr money sort of "supporter"

My point wasn't specifically directed towards accounting per se, but merely a generalisation as to how a 'poor,' unfashionable club like Blackpool appear better placed, (literally as well as figuratively) than neighbours Burnley.
Either they are doing something right, or we are doing something wrong. If that's not the case, I'd welcome an explanation for the disparity in quality between the two teams re' squad, results, gate and general perception of how the club's run.

Still they think we are dumb enough to keep paying without trying to connect with dwindling numbers of supporters so naturally income is falling. This is why Austin will be sold as will any other assett if a decent bid arrives, because put simply they haven't got any intention to try anything else. Poor management equals failure.
