12:00pm Friday 14th September 2012 in Sport
RAMSBOTTOM UNITED will make their first ever appearance in the FA Trophy tomorrow – and victory could potentially set up an intriguing East Lancashire derby with Clitheroe.
Ramsbottom were promoted to the Evo-Stik First Division North for this season and now they will make their debut in the FA Trophy in the preliminary round at First Division South side Brigg Town, who they beat 3-0 in the FA Cup at the Riverside last month. Should they triumph, they will host the winners of tomorrow’s tie between Northwich Victoria and First Division North side CLITHEROE.
Northwich have slid to First Division South following financial problems and currently play their home games at Stafford Rangers.
CHORLEY, who enter the FA Trophy at home to Whitby Town in the first qualifying round on September 29, entertain Hednesford in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.
The Magpies have brought keeper Peter Collinge back to the club for a second spell and have also recruited left back Louis Barnes on a month’s loan from Southport.
North West Counties Premier Division side COLNE host Scunthorpe outfit Bottesford Town, of Northern Counties East League Division One, in the second qualifying round of the FA Vase.
NELSON, who currently sit sixth in the North West Counties First Division, entertain Premier Division team Wigan Robin Park.
In the league, BARNOLDSWICK are at home to Stone Dominoes in the Premier Division. BACUP travel to Stockport Sports and PADIHAM host Bootle.
