Rugby: Rossendale lose in 80-point thriller

BAD habits came back to haunt Rossendale as they slipped to back-to-back defeats in National League Three North after losing out in a 80-point thriller against new boys Percy Park.

While it was another disappointing display from Dale, it was a fascinating encounter where they could have drawn right at the death.

James Bramhall, who had been in good form with the boot throughout the game, failed to convert a touchline kick which would have levelled the scores.

Dale failed to shake off the errors that had littered the opening day defeat to Chester but they still led at the interval thanks to Paddy Pole interception while Sam Lothain showed his pace in a kick chase.

However Dale continued mistakes at key times and areas on the pitch took its toll and Percy Park went on to score 41 points.

And despite tries from Bramhall and new signing Matt Smith at the close of play, Dale fell two points short.

Dale entertain in-form Sandal on Saturday.
