FORMER Burnley boss Stan Ternent has been appointed as Hull City’s new head of recruitment after admitting that he was ‘too active to retire’.
Ternent retired from football after leaving his job as manager of Huddersfield Town in 2008 but has now decided to return to the game to link up again with friend Steve Bruce.
Bruce was appointed as the manager of Hull this summer and had called upon Ternent for scouting help at a number of previous clubs.
“Steve Bruce has been my friend for a lot of years,” Ternent said.
“I did a bit of work for Steve looking at players when he was manager at Birmingham, at Wigan and at Sunderland.
“He rang me up and asked if I would like to oversee all of recruitment at Hull and I said I would do.
“I did decide I was going to retire. I wanted to spend some time with my family, there is more to life than just football.
“When you are a manager it is 24/7, it is all you do.
“But retirement is not for me, I’m too active.”
Ternent still lives near Burnley and will remain in the area in his new job, travelling to Hull once or twice a week.
