Summer ski racing season reaches halfway point

THE Ski Rossendale Summer Race League has reached the halfway point and with just two more events to go, the competition is finely poised.
Following on from the first event of the four race series an increased competitor list of 70 individuals assembled to do battle.
The field was made up of squads who had travelled from across the country and included teams from Sunderland, Sheffield and the National Snowsports England squad.
In the Under 8s boys, Ethan Heyes (Ski Rossendale Race Club) continued his winning streak going down the course in 17.92 secs.
Charlotte Holmes (Pendle) showed her speed by being a clear winner in 18.15 secs in the girls race.
In the boys U10s, Robert Holmes (Sheffield Sharks) overhauled Lukas Henderson (Ski Rossendale Race Club) with a 14:77 sec run. Adam Barnes (Ski Rossendale Race Club) continues to be the boy to beat in the U14s boys, winning the class over a very quick Jonathan Eaves (Pendle) in 13.56 secs.
In the girls U16s, Abigail Bird (Ski Rossendale Race Club), 15.67 secs, beat Matha Bradley (Sunderland Tigers).
In the older age groups, Matthew Bird (Ski Rossendale Race Club) took the honours in the U19s men in 13.26 secs.
The U35 ladies was won by Emily Bird (Ski Rosendale) in 17.73 secs and the U50s ladies saw Kerry driver (Classic Tastes) take the honours in a time of 17.47 secs.
Finally in the O50s men, David Eaves (Pendle) was fastest.
