Peters looking to Vase battle

BACUP Borough boss Brent Peters believes his men can come through tonight’s FA Vase first qualifying round replay against AFC Liverpool – but says he isn’t surprised that the teams must try again.

They played out a 0-0 draw on Merseyside on Saturday – and even 30 minutes of extra-time couldn’t separate the teams.

They try again tonight at West View in the replay with Peters looking forward to another tight battle between two well matched teams.

“It was a well contested game by both sides from which the scoreline said it all,” said Peters.

“It was a fair result.

“We changed a few things and introduced two new signings in Craig Bennett and Paul Nelson, both had impressive debuts and at the break I was pleased by the lads attitude, shape and the way we performed.

“We were guilty of being caught offside too easily while we were building fluent moves.

“We are all pleased to have kept a clean sheet, to have put in a very good disciplined performance.”

Fellow North West Counties League Premier Division outfit Padiham are also on the road to Wembley this evening – but their dreams are of glory in the FA Cup rather than the FA Vase.

The Storks travel to face Evo-Stik League Premier Division outfit Burscough after the teams drew 0-0 in the first game at The Arbories on Bank Holiday Monday.
