Blackburn Rovers boss anticipates busy transfer deadline day

BLACKBURN Rovers manager Steve Kean has admitted that there could be more transfer activity at Ewood Park before tonight's 11pm deadline.

Rovers yesterday completed their £8m record signing of striker Jordan Rhodes from Huddersfield Town.

But there could still be further additions today, while Kean has hinted at this morning's pre-match press conference that one or two players may also leave.

Steven Nzonzi, Martin Olsson and David Goodwillie are among the names that may depart the club.

What a pity those players couldn't respond to your legendary coaching abilities eh Steve? How unfortunate that nZonzi couldn't respond to your revolutionary tactic of playing the next Viera at centre-back or Scotland's Rooney on the bench.

Good luck Jordan.

Should be a Rhodes - Goodwillie in a 4-4-2

Coco will play Rhodes up top on his own and the lad will become frustrated at the lack of support and his form and confidence will suffer. Just ask Goodwillie, he would score 15+ in this league but the odiuos one cant see that.

Do we need any more evidence that we are being ripped of by Venky’s
Selling higher priced players only to be replaced by cheap imports
So they spend 8mill and will get more from the sales and that money will disappear

OUT WITH KEAN - OUT WITH VENKY’s

Even if they do sell some players - no way will it cover the £8m for Rhodes or all the other players they have bought. Most importantly - how on earth would it fill the current gap between our wage bill and income since relegation. How are Venky's going to pocket any money out of Rovers ?

Would be a shame to see Goodwillie go. Really thought he could make an impact at this level. Two questions though - 1) do we think we'd get the £2mill back and 2) who will buy him?

I am expecting at least three if not four leaving today,Olsson,Goodwil
lie and Nzonzi almost certain and I have a feeling Dann could depart.Venkys have laid out a substantial amount of money on Rhodes and they will want to claw back at least half. Its a pity Nzonzi has not his Heart in the club he could have been the standout performer in the championship this season and a very valuable asset in our attempt to regain our premiership place.Even with the Rhodes signing I do have concerns about Keans ability to take us to the top ,this and next weeks away fixtures will give us a better pointer as to what the season may have in store. Fingers crossed we dont lose too many of our established players in the next few hours I will be watching with great interest. up the blue and whites

Every team that gets relegated loses their best players who have little loyalty and go where the money is.The rovers have done exceptionally well in retaining so many Nzonzi was poor last season,Goodwillie is also poor Olsson is overrated we dont need them and as long as the imports can perform we will have a really good championship team.

These players were going anyway, Rhodes or no Rhodes...

Losing NZonzi is ok - yet it is a shame in one way, as we saw some rare glimpses of his skill and he did have potential that was never realized in his time with us. But he didn't ever show much fight to help the cause last season ( apart from when he supposedly decked SK) so on the field he wont be missed.

Olsson would be missed more I think. His pace and ability to beat players is not in doubt, but I don't think he should be playing RB. He should be further forward where he can do some damage especially with Rhodes and KR up front.

Cant see Dann going, he seems to have got his head down and started playing some decent football now....so he would be missed if he left. We would need a much better, more experienced replacement than the Portugese lad we signed earlier this week if Dann goes...

Hoillett has been leaving for almost two years now (in his head at least) and the Yak did us proud last season but moved on for a good final payday and to stay playing at a higher level...not sure about that last bit! All in all not a bad close season. A sound squad assembled just need a decent manager now.

J.C - Rishton says...

Yakubu £1m
Bunn £1m
Hoilett (poss) £5m
Olsson £3m (if he is sold)
Nzonzi ????m
Goodwillie £1.5m ??
Petrovic approx £1.5m

While I accept that Venkys deserve some credit for not having a whole sale fire sale and buying Best and Rhodes - (both of whom should be great signings) we have also got in some decent amount of money for good players who have left the club.

However, there have been a whole raft of poor signings - all these Portugese youngsters - anyone who was there on Tuesday night will see that they (at the moment) are no-where near good enough for the championship, let alone playing in the PL next season, if we should go up. - why have we bought them, I think its to do with our manager and his agent getting nice big kick backs through their contacts in Portugal (remember JA specialises in Portuguese players and currently there isno money in Portugese or Spanish football so suddently they all come over here ?? - no other English club seems to be buying bulk loads of Portuguese 2nd raters). Also, anyone who watched our Youth team last year (probably the best one we've ever had should wonder why we've had to buy in these Portuguese when they certainly don't seem to be any better than most of our Youth team already at the club - very strage indeed.

Also Danny Murphy (so far) has not had a great impact and you can see why Fulham didnt want to give him more than a 1 year contract, especially on the huge wages that he's on.

Looking forward to seeing Rhodes this Saturday against Leeds. Totally agree that Kean will need to change the formation and way he plays. Rhodes will not enjoy a lone striker role. Keep Ollson for his pace.Nzonzi wants to leave so I would sooner sell him than have to lose a player willing to fight. Glad to see Peds fighting back. Kean should play Rochina more now, he turned the game around against Leicester and sprayed the ball around well.

Of course players will leave. Having spent a few quid the owners will be desperate to move some players on and maintain their record of making a profit on transfer activity. With Samba having gone for £12m at the beginning on the year, further sales of Olsson, Nzonzi and Goodwillie are surely to be expected if Venky's are to continue to make a few million quid in each and every transfer window. I wouldn't be surprised to see Dann and Robinson added to this list. No doubt Steve the Clown will spout on about it all being good business for the club, but lets face it bringing in a load of third rate foreign players didn't work last season so I don't expect our posse of Portuguese stars to achieve much better this season. Okay some players will demand a move and refuse to play, so they have to be sold, but don't keep telling us that the owners have invested heavily on pushing for promotion when this is clearly a load of bull.

Hi Darener, I totally agree the in fighting must stop, I like you will never attend whilst this plonker is our manager, but it is becoming an us and them situation with the fans who are going and the fans who are staying away. To ALL fans do what YOU have to do and leave every body else to make there OWN minds up full stop. Threats and slagging each other of plays right into Keans hands. EVERYONE agrees we want KEAN OUT.
Thanks for that Morst, though I find it odd watching you agree with yourself in print. You can only give me 17 thumbs down now since you lost one of your accounts..unless you open some more of course
That ain't Morst. There was no moaning about Big sam.

for years we've moaned about the "fans" being crap at home and how we couldn't recreate what we were getting away. now it's worse. the darwen end revival with vocal fans has been absolutely first class, for the last two seasons. it is the benchmark for all fans. tomorrow at leeds you will see and definitely hear what supporting rovers is all about. those people who chant throughout deserve a medal, they are brilliant. as for what are termed the"happy clappers" what can i say. those who criticise the boycotters are misguided at least. i have no problem with fans who aren't disaffected enough to only attend away games. it's their prerogative, mistakenly in my view. for goodness sake we need the vocal fans whether it,s KEANE OUT or whatever, lifeblood and all that. Get to |Elland Road tomorrow, whoever you are and get yer vocal chords exercised ! KEANE OUT OUT OUT

Oh nice to see the non renewing 'supporters' being so grown up. However I think you actually fail to grasp the points being raised are not all criticisms of not renewing:

1. Some of us can't see the point of constantly moaning and being negative. I think that is a fair observation.
2. Some clearly want the current regime to fail whatever. We've just spent our club record fee and highest championship fee on
Jordan rhodes who is largely untried at this level. Some quote sales and possible sales like we never sold anyone before for err shearer, Sutton, duff or do these not count?
3. How much did the walker trust put in? They chose to sell us to Venkys.
4. Who signs grabbi, grella, Kevin Davis ie we've made plenty of **** ups in the past.
5. Why do people quote this figure of 10000! We're not in the prem what were average season ticket sales in prev chship/div 1 seasons?
6. Those who think buying a ST is support of the current regime are as deluded as kean, they are 50+mil down on revenue and desperate for premiership with or without fans - they're obviously trying to win back support bar sacking Mr make believe.

So I agree each to their own and we all want kean out but stop moaning for christs sake and base your comments on fact and context.

No wonder we will not re-new season tickets
Whatever. You won't renew season tickets because we are in championship nothing else. If we get promoted there will be another 10 thousand on ewood not if Steve kean gets sacked. so all you people calling us rovers fans for going to the games your wrong we support rovers and not the manager. He is not going to get sacked so leave it. I guarantee you will all be back if we get promoted or when we play burnley. You don't stick to your words
Well I can guarantee they wont ALL be back , because I wont be there for Burnley or any other game regardless of which division it is in, but should Kean be sacked I will be back for every game.
