Radice recruits for glory

DINO Radice believes his recruitment policy will help Blackburn push for promotion this season.

Radice has been busy in the summer months strengthening a squad he believes can challenge for the top places in North Lancs/Cumbria.

And with his debut season as coach under his belt, he is adamant he is better equipped to guide the Ramsgreave Drive side to glory – starting at home to Whitehaven on Saturday.

“We finished fourth last year but I thought we were good enough to go up,” said Radice who has used his roles with Lancashire U18s and North of England squads to bring in some talented youngsters. “Maybe it was me being a little naive last year but I have learnt from that and we now have a stronger squad.

“Last season we beat the teams who eventually went up but a lack of depth in our squad cost us dearly when we had injuries.”

n Pendle will be hoping to build on last season’s fine fourth place finish in their first season in North Lancs Two.

They start at home to Birchfield. Colne and Nelson go to Crosby St Mary’s. Clitheroe are at Eagle while Chorley travel to Newton-le-Willows.
