Cup pressure on Rammy, admits boss

RAMSBOTTOM co-boss Anthony Johnson admits the pressure is on ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup home clash with Brigg Town – with the club chairman eyeing a lucrative run in the competition.

The Rams have made an impressive start to life in the Evo-Stik League First Division North, taking four points from their first two games, but Johnson knows expectations are high ahead of the visit of Brigg.

He said: “We had a good win over Ossett in midweek and a draw at the weekend, so confidence is high.

“We played some great football in midweek. Maybe some people thought we were in this league to make the numbers up, but we don’t want it to be that way.

“The pressure is far from off on Saturday because it is the cup though.

“Our chairman will be putting more pressure on us getting a result in this game and rightly so. I’m not going to use all the old cliches about the FA Cup but they do bring good days.”

Elsewhere in the FA Cup preliminary round, Clitheroe entertain Radcliffe Borough, Padiham host Burscough and Bacup travel to Maine Road.
