Club in the mood to cheer a good season

Burnley and Pendle Rugby League Club celebrated a successful summer season, by holding their annual awards.

Matt Crowley, Joe Holden and Howard Metcalf scooped the top players awards.

Robert Metcalf was named as the most improved player but, with a team with an average age of 21, praise was given to each and every one of the 30 plus players.

The team has brought great credit not only to themselves, wherever they have played, but also to the Burnley and Pendle Rugby League Club who prides itself on its style of play and self discipline.

This attitude has brought praise all-round, wherever the team have performed. It certainly endorses the potential, also the desire for Rugby League, in this location of East Lancashire.

With a powerful, go ahead committee, a youthful squad, with players now being recruited from the surrounding catchment areas of Blackburn and Todmorden, the future certainly looks bright for a young thriving club.

Although in its infancy the club is steadily building a solid youthful foundation.

With a go forward strategy in place for next season, the players and committee entered a well deserved break before they re-commence early in the New Year.
