Runcorn Town 2 Bacup Borough 0

BACUP Borough have started their North West Counties Premier Division campaign with four consecutive defeats after Runcorn Town claimed all three points on Saturday.

James McShane put the hosts ahead after only two minutes and Tom Spearritt sealed victory for Runcorn with five minutes remaining.

It leaves Bacup bottom of the table ahead of Wednesday’s home match against AFC Blackpool but boss Brent Peters is certain that results will come.

“Taking the game in its entirety the first half I would give to Runcorn but for me it was our half after the break,” he said.

“We are just not getting the breaks in front of goal.

“If we were not playing well and not creating chances I would be concerned, however that is not the case. Our fortunes will, I am sure, change.”
