Barnoldswick Town 4 St Helens 2

BARNOLDSWICK Town go into tomorrow’s East Lancashire derby at home to Padiham in second place in the North West Counties Premier Division after victory over St Helens Town on Saturday.

The visitors had previously been unbeaten but Barlick dominated the play in the first half.

They only had a 1-0 lead at the break, though, as Lewis Jordan produced a sublime finish on 11 minutes – calmly chipping over Dale Newbrook in the visitors’ goal.

Their advantage was doubled on 59 minutes when Aaron Hollindrake curled a 25-yarder into the top corner.

Hollindrake then made it 3-0 on 70 minutes.

It seemed to be game over but St Helens came storming back with goals on 79 and 82 minutes, with Mero Waugh and Alexander Dunne the goalscorers.

Barlick confirmed victory with time running out, however, as Ash Alderson beat the offside trap to calmly play Jordan in for his second of the day.
