Hockey club aims for legacy

Clitheroe Ladies and Blackburn Men Hockey Club are launching a scheme to get more women and men involved in the game.
The Back to Hockey programme is a national initiative which is aiming to get more than 15,000 players back to one of the UK’s most popular Olympic sports.
The Blackburn-based club club will be hosting informal sessions aimed at people who are looking for a way to stay in shape, have fun in a team environment.
The campaign is backed by the England Hockey Board, the sport’s official national governing body and the Olympic legacy, inspiring a generation Coaching co-ordinator Steve Palmer said: “Anyone who has played hockey knows the sport provides a great workout.
“The new sessions will, we hope, prove incredibly popular with men and women looking for a fun, social way to get fit and stay in shape.”
Back to Hockey starts at Blackburn Northern Sports Club, Pleckgate Road, tomorrow beteen 7pm and 8pm and will continue every other Wednesday, it is free of charge and there is no need to book or have a stick.
