Silver Sam thanks fans for support

SILVER medallist Samantha Murray has thanked her fans for supporting her during ‘the toughest and most memorable day’ of her life.

Samantha, 22, from Clitheroe, a Blackburn Harrier, gave a lung-busting performance on Sunday as she rode, shot, swam, ran, and fenced her way to an Olympic medal.

Samantha’s event was the final one of the London 2012 Games.

At noon yesterday, the athlete tweeted: “Sleep deprived, but still smiling. Thank you for all the messages! Hope you all enjoyed watching the #ModernPentathlon :-D”

Speaking before the event, Samantha tweeted: “THANK YOU for all the messages of support so far. I can’t promise anything but.. I’m going to smash Sunday and give it everything I’ve got.

“It’ll be the toughest and most memorable day of my life i’m sure. Speak soon guys. love to all XxX”
