Barrowford bounce back to form

BARROWFORD bounced back to winning ways in the Mewies Solicitors Craven League as they ended their Division One slump with a fine win over Airedale.

The Villagers were always on top at the David Mills Memorial Ground and helped themselves to 173-5 from their 45 overs.

And that score was put into perspective when Airedale were rolled over for just 97.

Thornton’s home game with Bingley Congregationals was well poised when the rain came. Bingley were 125 all out and Thornton were 92-8 when the weather had the final say.

Pendle Forest had a short afternoon in Division Two as they bowled Cononley out for 25 and then strolled home in just 11.2 overs, while Foulridge were frustrated by the weather in their game with Ingrow St John’s at Noyna Rock.

The locals posted 132 all out and had Ingrow rocking on 46-5 when the match was rained off.

Chatburn’s good run in Division Three was ended by Denholme as they were bowled out for just 80 in 18.5 overs with only James Price (28) making any real inroads.

Leaders Denholme didn’t have things all their own way with Ben Threlfall claiming 4-41 - but the Yorkshiremen got home with five wickets in hand inside 20 overs.

Barrowford seconds kept up their pursuit of Denholme with a seven-wicket win over Eldwick and Gilstead as Marc Atkinson claimed five wickets and Robert Harris picked up four wickets to restrict the visitors to 121-9.

Mohammed Shahid then hit 50 not out and Jonny Ormerod was 26 not out as Barrowford strolled to a seven-wicket win.

Thornton seconds beat Oakworth thirds in Division Five and there was also a good win for Pendle Forest seconds, while Foulridge seconds went down to defeat at Haworth West End seconds.
