Naylor is hero for Clitheroe

Clitheroe produced a good all-round performance for large parts to defeat Airbus UK of the Welsh Premier League 3-2 in Saturday’s friendly.

Alex Johnson gave the Blues the lead from the penalty spot on 16 minutes after being felled in the box. Johnson doubled his tally for the afternoon a quarter of an hour into the second half as he latched onto a long ball forward from keeper Hakan Burton.

Jack Higgins temporarily kept the visitors at bay with a clearance from underneath his own crossbar before Airbus UK hit back with two quick-fire goals as the game approached the final 10 minutes.

The winning goal was scored by Andy Naylor after 84 minutes; side-footing home Marcus Calvert’s deflected effort.

Clitheroe now turn their attention to tonight’s friendly against Jim Bentley’s Morecambe.
