OLYMPIC fever has spread to Padiham Cricket Club, where the famous Olympic rings have been mown into the grass.

It took Ian Burrows, who has been groundsman at the club for five years, hours to mow the five interlocked rings, which represent the five parts of the world involved in the games But the work have paid off and Ian, who is known by his nickname Bugsy, said he hoped the stunt would put a smile on people’s faces.

He said: “The Olympics are a big occasion and I had been thinking about doing it for a while.

“I wanted to put them where everybody could see them and I’ve had some nice comments.”
